David Lee McClure

Dave McClure was my chaperone when I went to Europe in the Summer of 1968 when I was 16. He was more than a chaperone, he was a friend. I would visit with him at his apartment in Parsippany and would see him when he visited me when I went to Rutgers. I always have fond memories of him, his parents and his sister Kathi. In the summer of 1970, DL chaperoned our trip to Europe. Subsequently, I studied in England during my junior year of college, and spent 30 years as a hugh school English teacher. He was an inspiration in every way.

If his numerous enthusiasms, swirl of expended energies on behalf of them and his students, and a resultant hurly burly of activity that often surrounded Dave didn't provide frequent access of the sort that allowed me to get to know him well, my regard for him as a colleague in the English Department of West Essex High School for the 13 years I taught there compel me to pray that he rest in peace and that his family find consolation in affirmations of his exuberant singularity during this...
