Dr.McDowell, you are very much missed. Everyday what u have taught me lives within me. U reside in my soul. U cared about me & not by telling me anything but by being you. You taught me without words but love that nothing matters more than to be truly loved & cared for. With that, u have all that is important & with that u can then start your true journey in life. The reason I can't believe how many years have passed since you, Dave, passed is that your spirit is with me every day. Your light never goes out. I was your patient....I still am.

This is my second message regarding Dr. David McDowell. I miss him more and more every day as a patient of many many years. It's been almost a year now. I have yet to find a new therapist ; there simply isn't anyone out there with his intelligence and empathy not to mention his physical charm and sense of humor. I missed the service at St. Barts as my own mother was ill but if anyone would care to share anything more about Dr Dave's tribute please contact me at [email protected]

To Carlos: You are the hero, the unsung hero, the loving life partner for the past six years, Dave's happiest. I saw you take care of him every day through his illness and passing. Because of you, he could spend every one of those last days at home. You encouraged him, nursed him, fed him, loved him, accompanied him each step of the way. Just read about Dave's passing. He was always a kind thoughtful person who never missed a beat throughout my psychiatric training and my years at Columbia. My condolences and warm wishes to his family and friends.
