Not sure what to say?

Dear Shirley and the Mellen Family...

I had the pleasure of getting to know Dave while teaching at Wayzata High School. Dave was the impetus for starting a program bringing retired Honeywell engineers to my class to teach students about careers in engineering. I never grew tired of hearing Dave's stories about his work with NASA and having Neal Armstrong out to his house for dinner. Dave was passionate and an inspiration to many Wayzata HS engineering students. Dave will be missed but...

David, Danny, then Shirley were great neighbors while we lived on Troy Lane in Plymouth from 1990 to 2004. Among many memories was when David and I were 'harvesting' weeds from our little bay off Mooney Lake. What a chore that was! It was the only time I got to use the pitchfork that my mother had given my dad for his birthday over 50 years ago.

Lisa and I are so sorry to hear about your loss. You are in our prayers.

What wonderful memories I have of the Mellon family! Your father was so funny. I can see him smiling and holding his pipe! Your New Year's Eve Parties were the best. My sincere thoughts and prayers. I wish I could have attended the funeral. My sympathies to all of you.
Carol (Cummings) Harvey

Kent and Family, Our prayers go out to you and yours at the passing of your father. We're also praising God for getting a glimpse of your dad's wonderful influence on your love of the outdoors which you have in turn generously shared with family and friends, including our memorable trout trips to the Montana wilderness. Grace and Peace, Tom and Colleen and family

I am remembering with gratitude the wonderful times my family had with David and his family when they opened their home for all-night New Year's Eve activities. Dave was always encouraging and warm in his teasing and his care for us teenagers!

We will miss David at Wayzata Community Church, particularly his participation in Adult Education. He was an example of courage to all of us, lacking sight but very much involved in the discussions.

Bruce Hesse

Our deepest sympathies to Shirley and the family. Troy Lane will not be the same without him. We'll miss him at the mailbox! Dan and Annie Arnold

Dear Shirley and Mellen Family, Dave will be so missed as a wonderful friend and neighbor. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Lisa, Tim, Katie and Patrick Curtin
