Swartz Funeral Home - Flint Obituary

MILHORN, David Wayne - of Grand Rapids, Michigan died January 22, 2018 at Pine Rest Christian Homes in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the age of 55. David was born in Flint, Michigan on September 9, 1962 to Lonnie Henderson Milhorn and Lena Mae (Fletcher) Milhorn. David was a gift to his family and all who knew him. Davidkon or Uncle David, as he was affectionately referred by his family, will be sorely missed. His life was rooted in going to Church, singing and listening to gospel music, and going out to a favorite restaurant for fish and chips and Diet Coke. His outgoing personality and desire to laugh and enjoy life was contagious. He loved his entire family, including all those at Pine Rest Christian Homes who faithfully and lovingly cared for him over the past 10 years. David’s family is thankful for everyone at Pine Rest who did so much for David, enabling him to have a meaningful and rich life. And the family is also grateful beyond measure to the staff at Spectrum Health Hospice for their loving care and compassion, especially during these last several months. David was predeceased by his father, Lonnie in 1993, his mother, Lena in 2013 and brother, Christopher Cary Milhorn in 1999. He is survived by his sisters, Lou Ann (Dan) Gaydou and Linda Sue (Larry) Snider; nieces, Anessa (Scott) Fehsenfeld and Christina (Brad) Pittman; nephew Danny (Elizabeth) Gaydou, many grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins and numerous loved ones and friends at Pine Rest.

Not sure what to say?

David had such a spirit of joy and love. I spent many days with him at Cameron home and I'm so very thankful for those moments. I have reflected often on how David impacted my view of God's kingdom. David extended love to those around him without hesitation. I remember one day coming in to Cameron and had some personal struggles, although attempting to not let that show, David picked up on it and offered to pray for me. I really cannot say how grateful I am our paths crossed for the last few...

David's mother and mine worked together at KMart. We had our name in common and I can remember meeting him when he was about 9 and I was about 10. I knew he had a special spirit about him even at our young ages. I'm sure he's enjoying a happy reunion with the mother he loved so much. God Bless you David and all of the family. May the Peace that passes all understanding abide with you forever.

I worked with David for a year or so at Hope Network, and in the Friendship class he attended on Thursday evenings. David always had a smile, and wanted everyone to know hw was going out to lunch that week. It was a highlight of his week! What a blessed child of God!

David was a very special person. He cheered up everyone that was around him. I will always remember him for his special ways and his smile.

I remember David and your mother with happy memories, they went to church with our family. The one thing with David he always had a BIG smile for everyone. He was a very special person and I am happy he touched my life.

Eternal Blessings Bouquet

We are grateful to have known David and his connected family. David will always be remembered for that great smile and laugh.

David's perpetual and radiating smile, as well as his storytelling, will always be remembered. He gave great delight to my twin brothers who lived with him at Pine Rest. We will pray for your family to heal with the joy that David has given all.

Praying for your family and remembering David's sweet laugh and singing at church.
