Not sure what to say?

David was for many years a colleague and mentor at Emory University. He taught me much about William Faulkner and from a perspective that was unique. I also worked with him as an assistant and then associate dean of Emory College during his time as dean of Emory College. I learned much from observing his even-handed, effective administrative style. David and Caroline also have been personal friends for many years. Thank you, and I send heartfelt condolences. Sally Wolff King, Emory University

So sorry for your loss . David will be missed by all who knew him .
My sincere condolences to the family .

David was--for many years--a dear friend and mentor. He befriended me (in the 1980s) as a young Faulknerian, helped me to become a better scholar, modeled in his own way the best virtues of our profession: wide learning, critical sensitivity, ethical compassion, a desire to help others develop a deeper selfhood by engaging great literature. I shall never forget him. Philip Weinstein

To the Minter family, I am sorry for your loss. I just wanted to share some comforting scriptures. Hosea 13:14. Take care.
