David Naughtin, 78, Hibbing, passed away peacefully from complications of a stroke, Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008 in Hibbing. David was born in Hibbing and attended Assumption School and graduated from Hibbing High School in 1947 before attending the University of Notre Dame, where he earned both a bachelor's and law degree. He served in the US Navy as a Lt.(j.g.) from 1951 -1954 and made three trips to Korea on the USS Samuel N. Moore. David later returned to Hibbing to practice law with his father where he had a distinguished career as an attorney. He also served as Assistant St. Louis County Attorney from 1959-1971. David made a significant impact in his community through his many affiliations including the Blessed Sacrament Church, Hibbing Foundation (charter board member), Rotary Club (past President), Board of Governors of the Minnesota State Bar Assoc., US Bank (board member), Hibbing Hospital (board member) and the Mesaba Country Club (past President). David led a full and meaningful life and truly loved his family and friends. He especially enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. He particularly treasured many wonderful times at the Mississippi Hilton hunting and fishing camp. David was preceded in death by his parents, John Thomas Naughtin and Mary Schaefer Naughtin and his sister Eileen Mary Naughtin. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Lois Peters Naughtin of Hibbing; four children, Tom (Jane) Naughtin of Plymouth, Minn., Kathy (Kevin) Kassenborg of Moorhead, Minn., Sue (Jeff) Potter of Shorewood, Minn. and Jeff (Terri) Naughtin of Plymouth. David also had nine grandchildren, Jennifer Naughtin, John Naughtin, Andie Kassenborg, Stephanie Potter, Lisa Potter, Eric Potter, David Naughtin, Jack Naughtin and Michael Naughtin. SERVICE:His funeral will be at the Blessed Sacrament Church on Saturday; April 5. Memorials may be made to the Hibbing Foundation or the Central Mesabi Medical Foundation. Arrangements are with the Dougherty Funeral Home.
