I met David in June of 1951 when we were in the same cabin at Boys State. He was humorous and we talked a lot about sports and politics. Then we met again on the basketball court in high school. His Aiken team beat my Orangeburg High squad due to his shooting prowess. In more recent years, I heard about his kindness and close attention he gave to his wife when she was involved with a terrible accident. He was a fine man; and I will never forget him.
