David Michael Nichols, 74, resident of 309 Flatwood Road, husband of Donna Witherspoon Nichols, died Thursday, March 12, 2015. Born in Greenwood, October 28, 1940, he was a son of the late Joel Horace and Clara Proctor Nichols. He was a graduate of Greenwood High School and the Winona School of Photography. He also served in the South Carolina National Guard. David was owner of Nichols Studio where he did portraiture and commercial photography. He certainly enjoyed his hobbies of farming and boating. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter, Ruthie Nichols Ivester and husband Michael and a grandson, Sanders David Ivester; two step-grandsons, Rivers and Carson Ivester, all of Greenville; a brother, Joel and wife Janice Nichols of Rock Hill and a sister, Anita Nichols of Greenwood. He was predeceased by a sister, Virginia Holsomback. Graveside services were conducted Sunday in Edgewood Cemetery by Dr. Tony Hopkins. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646 or Humane Society of Greenwood, PO Box 49776. Greenwood, SC 29649.
