David Norrell age 54 of Spring City, Tennessee died on Friday, September 6, 2024 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, Tennessee as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born on March 14, 1970 in Opelika, Alabama and has been a resident of this area for 3 years. David was an avid lover of nature. He enjoyed hiking, exploring, and sharing his love of the woods. David loved water, and spent a few summers as a river guide on the Nolichucky River. Anytime he saw an opportunity to jump in the water, he took it. His free spirit led him on many great adventures.
David shared his love with everyone through service. He baked with passion and loved to share his baked goods, sending them out into the world to share his joy. David wanted to make everyone smile, and he will be remembered to many as “sunshine” in human form. After losing his son Max Andrew Norrell, David learned to find the beauty in all the little things from the tiny flowers, the weeds, the birds, and he helped everyone to see the beauty of the world. He overcame so much and had a heart of gold. David will be missed by all. He had words of wisdom he always shared: “feed someone, and show them you love them; get a dog and know what love is, and above all hug someone, and tell them you love them.”
Survivors include his wife Marylyn Norrell of Spring City, Tennessee; his mother and stepfather Nanine and Curtis Cooper of Black Mountain, North Carolina; his father Richard Wayne (Barbara) Norrell of Opelika, Alabama; his stepchildren Savannah White and Doug White both of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and Will White of Spring City, Tennessee; his first wife Sally Norrell of Columbia, South Carolina; his grandmother LaMerle Anderson of Opelika, Alabama; his brother Anderson Norrell of Augusta, Georgia; his sister Laura Edwards of Erwin, Tennessee; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held in his hometown Opelika, Alabama on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. at the Bottling Plant Event Center.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in honor of David’s son Max to the American Federation of Suicide Prevention, or that you go adopt a friend from a local animal shelter.
Vaughn Funeral Home of Spring City is in charge of the arrangements of David Norrell and asks that friends share condolences and memories of him with the family on our website www.vaughn-funeral-home.com.
