KALKASKA — David Shayne O'Neill, beloved son of David and Debora O'Neill; cherished brother of Jennifer, Natalee, Tylor and Kodee O'Neill; loved grandson of Robert and Doris Parent, Donna O'Neill and Harold (Gale) O'Neill; uncle of Amber, passed away suddenly on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, due to many health problems as a result of his diabetes. He was born on June 16, 1983, in Tawas City.
Shayne attended Clawson High School and graduated from Oxford High. He was a happy-go-lucky kind of guy.
Shayne was an excellent chef who liked to experiment with new recipes in the kitchen, work with his hands in the garden and was the family comedian, always making us laugh at his antics.
He enjoyed working at Wayne Wire in Kalkaska, where he made many great friends.
Shayne enjoyed life and loved making new friends. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
The funeral service will be held today, Dec. 6, at 11 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Traverse City. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Kalkaska.
Memorials may be made on behalf of Shayne to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, West Michigan Chapter, 4362 Cascade Road SE, Suite 116, Grand Rapids, MI 49546.
Arrangements were made by Wolfe-O'Neill Funeral Home, our family serving yours.

Dear Family,
Shayne was a wonderful young man. He always greeted me like a long lost friend when I would see him at the house on Island Lk Rd. or the Senior Center. His smile and laughter was infectious. A very sad loss for you. With love and a hug Shayne always gave freely, my deepest condolences are with you as you grieve. A friend of Shayne's,

I can not begin to express my sympathy for your whole family and friends of Shayne. He was an amazing guy. He had a heart of gold and a smile that can melt someone. He is very special to me as he affected my life in a poitive way that he will now know. He meant very much to me, as I would rather say that i was so priveliged to be with him for the short time that I was. My thoughts and prayers are with you all, and my love is still in my heart for him, as I know it will be for all of us. ...

To the O'Neill family,
My heart goes out to you all at this time and in the days ahead.
I only met Shayne recently at the dental office, but what a fine young polite man he was. As a parent of two young boys, I could not imagine the pain of your loss.
As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's rountine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family & friends.
With Sympathy,
Debbie Jenkins & family
