David Stuart Palermo

Dear Mrs. Palermo:

I was saddened to learn today (10-19-2011) of David's passing. He was the major adviser on my master's thesis committee at Southern Illinois University (1958). I may have been his first graduate student advisee at SIU. Although we did not have frequent contact after he left SIU, I maintained deep appreciation for his kindness, support, and friendship during my early years in graduate psychology. I just found out. Dave was my very good friend at Iowa and for some years thereafter. We competed in flying paper airplanes and pitching pennies in the corridors in East Hall (now Seashore Hall) and for grades in class. We generally tied.
