Not sure what to say?

Because of Dr Paulson my father lived to be 83. In 1970s at 40 years old) my father had a lump in the groin area. My mother wrote to Duke University describing it and telling them that a West Virginia doctor wanted to surgically remove it. She received a phone call within a week from Dr Paulson saying he wanted to see him immediately. He saved my dad's life. The relationship he had with my dad was amazing as they both had a wonderful sense of humor. My condolences for your family...

Ellen, Dave was a significant part of my early life.We both were in the class of 1956 at Annapolis High School. Both played trombone in the Annapolis High School band which is where I got to know him. He got me a summer job at Bay Ridge beach where he was a lifeguard near where he lived. He got me interested in Duke and he and his father drove me and my father senior year to Duke (all two lane , no I 95 etc. ) where we both were accepted and roomed together first year. I didn´t...

Bill and I were saddened to learn of the death of your beloved David. We always enjoyed being with you both and we were surprised to read it has been 35 years since you married. I remember you vividly when we first met at an AAGUS meeting. Bill has often remarked how gracious you both were when you held the AAGUS meeting at Duke and invited the members to your house. You were a perfect pairing. Much love to you Ellen. Jan and Bill Catalona

Dear Ellen, prayers and sympathies for the loss of your beloved husband. May his memories be a blessing to you and your family...

When we moved into our beautiful street in BallenIsles, I was stunned to learn that the famous and highly regarded Duke urologist, David Paulson, and his lovely wife lived right down our block just six houses away. I knew of Dr. Paulson as, during my radiation oncology residency at Columbia in New York, I had heard his name mentioned numerous times and had read several of his papers as related primarily to the surgical treatment of prostate cancer. In meeting him personally, I was not...

Single Memorial Tree

I worked for Dr. Paulson from 1978 to 1991, as his clinical administrative assistant at Duke. He was like a father to me, as I was only 18 when I started working for him. He was always pleasant and had a great sense of humor. He was a brilliant physician and so respected. I send my condolences to the family and wish you well.

David was an extraordinary individual! We loved our times with Ellen and David, especially our trip to Italy where David proficiently drove the car to Lake Como and the many fun and interesting dinners. And he was a world class crabber and bouillabaisse chef. We will always remember David, his kind generous ways and his zest for life. Our condolences are with Ellen and the family

David Paulson and I were both from Annapolis, Maryland, and attended Duke University. He was my ride home from Durham, two years older and treated me like a little sister and good friend for the rest of ours lives. . We both stayed at Duke and my husband was a Obstetrics Gynecology resident there also. Our son, Charles, was fortunate to be one of his 120 urological residents. We gave them a farewell party when they left Durham!! The Yowells send our love and condolences to the Paulsons!
