David E. Purpel

I know this is more than 11 years later, and I am sorry to be finding out so late, but I just want to offer my deep condolences to all those who loved Dr. David Purpel, who was one of my dissertation advisors and professors. David was a warm and caring person. When my husband Nathan Adelman and I got in touch with David, it was something we always cherished. I only wish that we could have met in person. Though it had been years since Nathan had last spoken to David, it was as if they were one.
Though Nathan too has passed, our prayers are with you and your family.

Dr. Purpel's lively spirit will always be with me. Never taking himself too seriously, he was an icon in the annals of true education. The picture captures that marvelous wit and, in fact, his delight in witnessing the human comedy.
