David T. Ramirez,age 84, lifelong resident of Mesilla passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his daughters home. He was born July 11, 1931 to Juan V. and Amelia M. Tellez Ramirez. David retired after twenty-five years of services with the Las Cruces Public School and was one of the first Volunteer Fire Fighters in Mesilla. He was a lifetime member of the Basilica de San Albino.
Survivors include three sons, Oscar A. Ramirez, David A. Ramirez (Celina) all of Las Cruces and Alvin A. Ramirez (Shannon) of Hobbs; two daughters, Linda Clark (Celso) of Fairacres and Georgina Ramirez (Christopher Gamboa) of Mesilla; and one sister, Cecilia Zamarripa also of Mesilla. A grandson, Isaiah Adrian Trujillo serving with the United States Air Force and a granddaughter, Adrianna Ramirez serving with the United States Navy will not be in attendance. Other survivors include numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Arciria Ramirez in 1996, two brothers, Armando and Johnny Ramirez and a sister, Celia Medina.
Visitation for Mr. Ramirez will begin at 6 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2016 in Baca's Funeral Chapels 300 E. Boutz Road where the Prayer Vigil is scheduled for 7 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in the Basilica de San Albino, 2280 Calle Principal in Mesilla with the Very Reverend Richard A. Catanach Celebrant. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue where he will be laid to rest alongside his wife in the family plot.
Serving as casket bearers will be Kristopher Gamboa, Michael Murphy, Phillip Chavez, Tommy, Oscar, Paul and Gabriel Ramirez, and Cesar Enriquez. Honorary bearers will be Isaiah Adrian Trujillo, Julian Enriquez, Adam Chavez and Oscar Ramirez III.
