Dear Marjorie,
I have just received the news with disbelieve and deep sorrow; David was a great man that I just got to know in the past three years and it seemed like I knew him for eternity. He was a giving man, a noble man and above all a man that gave his life to serve his country and the world to make it a better one. What dreadful news! St. Margaret's won't be the same without David, and you have my warmest sympathies.
To my genuine regret, I can't make the service on Saturday. I'm cochairing the Advent retreat--which will include heartfelt prayers for David, you, your family, and your friends.
