David J. Rice, 68, of Hellertown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at the Inpatient Hospice at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Allentown. He was the beloved husband of Ernamarie (Anderson) Rice, with whom he shared 25 years of marriage. Born on September 20, 1956, in Muskegon, Michigan, David was the son of the late David C. and Barbara E. (Welch) Rice. David honorably served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, a service he carried with great pride throughout his life.
He was a skilled carpenter and a proud member of Carpenters Union Local 167, where he worked for 30 years. Known for his craftsmanship and dedication, David took great pride in his work and the relationships he built over the years.
An avid outdoorsman, David especially loved fishing, a passion he enjoyed sharing with his family and friends. He had also enjoyed the open road on his Harley-Davidson.
In addition to his devoted wife, Ernamarie, he is survived by his children: Daniel J. Rice of Hellertown, Stevie L. Rice of Northampton; His sisters: Kathy L. Young (Ronald R. Wirth) of Allentown, Karen R. Thomas of Bethlehem; He was a proud grandfather to three cherished grandchildren: Riley, Elyse, and Olivia. David was preceded in death by his sisters: Debra A. Shannon and Kristine K. Salverio (Randy) of Hellertown.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, July 21, 2025, at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 326 Main Street, Hellertown, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. A repast will be held immediately after the service at The Carriage House at Heintzelmans.
