David Bruce Ritchie, 60, of Plymouth passed away Friday August 8th, 2013 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington MA after a long battle with liver disease. Born November 29, 1952 in Chelsea, MA. He is predeceased by his parents William Ritchie and Marilyn (McCormack, Ritchie) Cannon. David was raised in Dorchester and Brockton Mass. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1971 and continued to reside and work in Brockton for many years. David was employed for 15 years at Davis Clothing in Brockton before moving to Boston where he became Occupational Therapy Senior Program Coordinator at Boston University. An active member of BU's labor union, the United Auto Workers Local 199, David was elected local union vice-president. A position he held until 2008 when he retired due to his illness. David will be remembered as a kind and gentle man with a generous heart and a terrific sense of humor. David is survived by his wife, Darlene McGrath-Ritchie, his step-father James Cannon of Merrimack N.H., and eight siblings; Robert Ritchie, St. George, Utah , John Ritchie, Northbridge, Ken Ritchie, Brockton, Karen McMenamy, Duxbury, Nancy Ritchie, Brockton, Janet Herman, Goffstown, N.H. , Brian Cannon, Amherst, N.H., and Russell Cannon, Merrimack, N.H. He is also survived by a large extended family of in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
