David Lewis Ruffin

Mr. David Lewis Ruffin, Sr. (Sonny), son of Fred and Gladys R. Foster, was born December 23, 1945 in Greensboro, NC. He departed this life on June 23, 2015 at Whitestone Masonic Home.

Sonny was educated in the Guilford County School System. He graduated from Dudley High School. He served in the army from 1960 to 1971. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Expert Rifle M-16, 1 0/S Bar Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/DVC 60, Marksman Rifle M-14, Good Conduct Medal, and an Army Commendation Medal.

Preceding him in death are his parents, Fred and Gladys Foster; brother, Bert Ruffin; and his son, David Lewis Ruffin, Jr.
David leaves to cherish his precious memories, his daughters, Kimberly and Tonya Ruffin both of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Marinda Gray from Greensboro, NC and Ramona Ruffin of Raleigh, NC; brother, Fred Ruffin of Fayetteville, NC; aunts, Juanita Moore of Greensboro, NC and Thelma Simpson of Washington, DC; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.

A homegoing celebration will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 12:30 pm at the Goldie Hargett Memorial Chapel, 905 East Market Street, Greensboro.
