Not sure what to say?

I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Sahn's passing. He was a great mentor to me when I was an undergraduate student at UC San Diego. I worked in his laboratory for two summers and learned so much. His strong letter of recommendation was instrumental in my admission to graduate school. I just wanted to offer my condolences to his family. -All the best, Marianne

I just learned this today from another former attending. I extend my condolences. Dr. Sahn held a special place in my academic heart because of our shared eccentricity. Not everyone gets us, and I felt like he understood me in a personal way more than most. Or, he just accepted my own differences. I always enjoyed every interaction with him. Peace & love to the family. ~ Joseph

I met David in 1982 when he came to Greenlane Hospital in Auckland and brought with him the first 2D ECHO machine to New Zealand. I was a cardiology fellow. The story goes that Tony Roche saw this "hippie" unpacking the ECHO machine from a wooden crate. Tony is alleged to have said, "When Dr. Sahn arrives tell him, he can find me in my office." Without hesitation, Dr. Sahn replied, "Sure." After unpacking and setting up the ECHO machine, he went to Tony´s office and knocked on the door. He...

I worked for Drs. Sahn, Allen, and Goldberg in Pediatric Cardiology at the then UAMC-Tucson. I remember when Dr. Sahn, his hair all wild and that lovely smile, brought Dutch scientists to his lab to establish the first echocardiography, not only in the department but also in the state. I am proud of having known him. He was typical of many brilliant people, having so many talents and interests. I am sorry to know that he has passed away.

I was one of Dr. Sahn's students and would not have become an engineer and subsequent surgeon were it not for his mentorship, support, and friendship over the years. He inspired my then-nascent love of nature and I am reminded of him hiking and skiing the trees of Oregon.

I wouldn´t be a pediatric cardiologist and what I have if it wasn´t because of David. He invited me to work in OHSU while I was in HK in the 1990s. He changed my life and the lives of many others. We wrote a chapter of the 3D ultrasound book together and numbers papers. He is a giant in medicine and a great scientist. It was fortunate to know him and work with him. May he rest in peace and my condolences to the family.

David was a true master of cardiovascular science and medicine. He was a true role model to me. Through his exemplary career, he supported many scientists, which I am proudly one of them. I am glad that I had the opportunity to spend time with him during several occasions and learn life lessons from him. May he rest in peace. He will always remain in my thoughts.

I did not have the good fortune to know +David Sahn, but judging by his daughter, Jennifer, I figured he must have been an extraordinary man. Now that I've learned more about his life, I know it to be a fact. He brought all kinds of music to the world, and he will be missed. Requiescat in pace, David. I am sorry I did not get to meet you.

A great professor and friend! Helped me a lot Will miss him very much My condolences to the famíly
