Not sure what to say?

I had the great pleasure of meeting David Schooler in April of 1982. It was my first day in Washington, D.C., and also my first day on the job. We both worked as attorneys for the Energy and Commerce Committee. Dave worked for the Democrats and I worked for the Repblicans. We certainly didn't always agree, but we stayed friends starting that day and for the next almost forty years. What a fantastic sense of humor Dave had! The time we spent laughing amounted to so much more than the time...

Dave gave me so much. Three years later, I don't have the words- but I'm so thankful for his presence in my life.

I think of Dave so fondly. He was one of the first people I met when I moved to DC. He was funny, smart, gracious, friendly, committed to his work and friends. He loved to travel and celebrate sporting events. Truly an outstanding, kind person. Miss him.

I graduated with David in 1969 from Irondeqoit HS and just picked up the year book for the first time in 40 years!!!! He/I worked on the school newspaper and I googled his name thinking he “excelled” which he did.
The recent death is sad for such a generous, liberal thinker. I will try to send the cute HS yearbook page.

RIP, Dave. You were a great person and a great friend.
I'm sorry I never made it down to DC for one of the Opening Day parties, but I always appreciated the invites. I'm going to miss you.

I worked at Capitol Lounge on the hill for 8 years where David was a regular customer and hosted some G&T parties (I've still got some 'opening day' swag). I'm also an actor in DC, and Dave was a great audience member and supporter of my work. He will be missed!

Pinball Wizard and all around good soul. He made us better.

I haven't seen Dave since the 70s, maybe early 80s when I'd meet him at the Hawk and the Dove and go to Opening Day of the Gin and Tonic Season. A storm of energy and smarts, he made "nice" a good, strong word of praise. I mourn them all, but I'll grieve Dave more than 10 or 20 put together. Bye Dave.

I moved here from Central Florida to take a job nannying for the awesome Peter Rogoff and Dena Morris. As I flew into DC on a Saturday afternoon, they picked me up at the airport and took me to my very first gin and tonic party, courtesy of Dave Schooler. I liked Dave instantly. Warm, sincere, easy going, he welcomed me with open arms. Several years later when I became engaged, his wedding present to my husband and I was Cirque de Solei tickets. A more generous and sincere man I have never...
