Memorial services celebrating the life of David C. Schug, age 41, of Chaska were held Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 6:30 PM at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America. Officiating was Rev. David Winter and the organist was Sherri Schug. A gathering of family and friends was held prior to services at the chapel.
David Clarence Schug was born September 3, 1967 in Waconia, Minnesota the son of Delbert and Joyce (Luke) Schug. He was baptized as an infant at Ascension Catholic Church in Norwood Young America. David attended Mount Olivet Rolling Acres school at age 6 and then class at Chanhassen Elementary until he was 13. In 1988, David graduated from District #287 in Richfield. David lived at home with his parents until September of 1990 when he moved to the main campus of Mount Olivet Rolling Acres. He lived there for three years and then moved to the Mt. Olivet Rolling Acres group home in Chanhassen. In July of 2002, David moved to the Mt. Olivet Rolling Acres group home in Chaska where he continued to reside. David attended Mankato Rehabilitation Centers (MRCI) in both the Chanhassen and Chaska locations for his vocational day program from 1989 until November of 2008. David attended church services at the Rolling Acres main campus. In his free time, David enjoyed puzzles and games. He loved animals, watching Animal Planet, attending Camp McGregor summer camp, music, going to movies and other community outings. On Saturday, December 20, 2008, David entered his eternal rest at Mount Olivet Rolling Acres in Chaska at the age of 41 years, 3 months and 17 days. He is preceded in death by his mother Joyce; paternal grandparents Wilfred & Virginia Schug; and maternal grandparents Clarence & Leona Luke.
David is survived by his father Delbert “Butch” Schug of Norwood Young America; siblings Richard Schug (wife: Sherri) of Norwood Young America, Donald Schug of Chisago City, Ron Schug (wife: Tammy) of Norwood Young America, Dan Schug (wife: Lisa) of Hamburg, Nancy Crandall (husband: Donald) of Hampton, Mary Boecker (husband: Doug) of Rochester, Steven Schug of Minneapolis, Diane Damuth (husband: Todd) of Montrose, Randy Schug of Green Isle and Janet Schug of Norwood Young America; special caregiver Claudia Eng and all the Rolling Acres Staff; housemates P.J., Riley and Alex; as well as many other relatives and friends.
