Not sure what to say?

David, I sense your wonderful spirit and uniqueness to this day. And you are missed as much as ever. I sense you are out there somewhere in the universe and I know that we will meet again. Thank you for what you contributed to all of us here. Kathy

A year has passed and you continue to be greatly missed by those whose lives you touched. I love you and miss you as much as ever, and my heart still aches over you. You left memories behind which I shall cherish and keep in my heart until such time as we are together again. Thank you, my dearest David.
Kathy

David,
I always remember the time we were sitting at the piano writing my first bass line together. Or all the times you were so happy to eat mum's tasty cooking. :)
(And I still remember the night when you and mum first went to the movies!!)

I miss you a lot, and I am glad you got to be my dad.
With Love,
Becka

To the Shaffer family,
I enjoyed working with David during his short run with Jump Jones. His talent for composition, arrangements, as well as his performance helped to lift the group to a higher level of musicianship. His work for the group is an invaluable gift that well leave a longlasting effect.

David Shaffer was a good friend, a fellow musician and my neighbor.

He was a great player and a superb and caring music educator. Music was his living, but David never forgot about the art of what he did. He always gave his heart, soul and sweat to make the best music he could.

I am very grateful for having known and been influenced by David. I will always be grateful for the things he taught me.

My greatest sympathies to his family for their loss.

Dear Kathy,

So sorry for your loss. Dave was a good friend of mine and my ex-husband's/brother back in the day (1970's). In fact, Dave Shaffer, Bill and Myron Oakes, Greg Poole were all in my very first band together and "swept" the competition (we voted for ourselves). He used to practice endlessly after graduating from SDSU- especially sax and oboe. The last time I saw him was in Yuma, when his combo had a gig at a restaurant that sold those "blooming onions." He has left his...

I never knew or met David, but I know his father and know him to be a great man,
and I wish to express my sadness for his loss. David, if you need me for anything let me know. May God bless you my friend.

David was my best friend. I met David in 1991 as he and I started doctorates at U. of A. and we had some great times there in Tucson. We played together in the university orchestra and wind quintet, and also in a couple of show orchestras – David’s sense of humor coupled with his intense musicianship and professonalism set the bar for many of us there. I remember some great moments, like having a laugh together after being slaughtered by Prof. Murphy for our unorthodox analyses of Beethoven...

David was essential to my Big band experience. Not only was he a fabulous musician and composer, he was an inspiration and a good friend. He was a great leader and added so much to our ensemble. God Bless.
