Not sure what to say?

To each of the wonderful Shankles family and his special grandmother Hazel, David's passing is not forgotten and neither will all his joy and kindness be forgotten. Even at such a young age, he made a difference by touching the lives of fellow students and others he met along the way. May God continue to send to each of you His Comfort, as we all thank you for raising such a special young man who touched the lives of so many others during his brief time on this earth. Thinking of You with...

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Shankles and Family, I am sad to hear of David's passing. He was a student in my chemistry lecture Fall 2016, and thankfully signed up for my Spring 2017 class as well. Like many first-year students, David was quiet in the classroom. But he always had a ready answer when called on. Conscientious and cooperative. And such a blast of sunshine with that shock of blond hair and cheerful smile! Having retired from Berry in May 2017, I am only just now learning about...

Karen, Roland, and family, once again our prayers are lifted for your strength and care. God's Plan does not always make sense in our minds; we rely on our faith in Him alone. Your faith is strong and we will continue prayers for continued strength to your amazing family. With our sympathies and love,

Dear Roland and Karen and all of your sweet family, we were so sad to hear about your precious son, David. He was certainly an incredible young man who accomplished much in his short time on earth. God bless all of you! Roger and Kathy Tipton

Karen and Roland we just heard of David's home going. What a wonderful young man it sounds like he was. Our hearts break for your loss and our prayers are with you all.

So glad I got the chance to have David run with the Blue Grass cross country team. My heart goes out to you. Great kid!
Blue Grass Elementary Cross country Coach Karen Lewis

I am sorry to hear what happened, my daughter lives in the same dorm and from what she told me she could tell he was greatly admired when she saw so many students upset; you raised him well that he touched others.

Karen,

My heart aches for your loss. Knowing you--and the memories we shared in our childhood--I can only begin to imagine the joy and laughter David brought into your life. Although David is now enjoying being in the presence of Jesus, I know that his absence here on earth will leave a large void for those that knew and loved him. I pray that in the midst of your sorrow, the Holy Spirit will surround you with the comfort that only Christ can bring.

With our love,
