Adobe Creek Funeral Home - Petaluma Obituary

December 12, 1959 - November 28, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of David Leigh Sheals on November 28, 2024, with his loving family by his side. Born in San Francisco, California, on December 12, 1959, Dave spent his early years in both San Francisco and Medford, Oregon before settling in Sonoma County, where he created a life filled with love and memories.

A gifted athlete, Dave excelled as a baseball pitcher in high school and college, and his passion for the game continued throughout his life. He was also a dedicated sports fan, following numerous teams with enthusiasm.

Dave proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, earning an honorable discharge after his service. His professional career as an electrician spanned many years with the San Francisco Local Union 6, IBEW, where he was known for his skill and commitment.

Outside of work, Dave had a wide range of interests. He loved riding motorcycles, capturing life’s special moments through photography, and participating in social events with friends and family. A natural entertainer, Dave was a consummate host who cherished bringing people together in his home, creating lasting memories with those he loved. He had a sweet tooth and was particularly fond of chocolate.

A devoted member of Calvary Chapel in Petaluma, Dave treasured his church family, particularly the Calvary Chapel Men’s Group. His faith and generosity were evident in his actions, always willing to serve others.

David was the beloved husband of Christine “Chris” Sheals and the proud father of JD Sheals, Phoebe (Tony) Frediani, Eugene (Allie) Jensen, Andrea Hill, and Samantha (Steve) Mertens. He was a cherished grandfather to Angelo, Giovanni, Andrew, Austin, Evan, Blaine, Loretta, Curt, June, and Grace, and an adoring great-grandfather to Gianna. He was the loving brother of Louise Albrow and the late Lester and Alan Sheals, as well as a devoted son-in-law to Paul Poole and the late June Poole.

A celebration of Dave’s life will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 11am at Calvary Chapel, 1650 Corporate Circle, Petaluma. A graveside service with military honors will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 at 11am at the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery, 5810 Midway Road, Dixon, California. Friends and family are invited to join in remembering and celebrating Dave’s life.

His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and he will be deeply missed.

Not sure what to say?

Sweet dreams Dave, you were one of the good guys!

Hey Dave glad you're unchained and free of PD you're up there riding your motorcycle where there's no stop signs or speed limits thanks for being my fellowship buddy.

I lost touch with David over the years after I got married. He will always be someone special to me. Never have forgotten our special friendship. Lots of letters back and forth when we were in high school, college and while Dave was in the service. Miss him already. So glad he made Jesus his Lord and Savior. That knowledge makes my heart glad. Nancy Hiatt

My condolences to the Sheals family on their of Dave.
We shared several stories re/ USMC and being on Okinawa in our time of service.
He was the last foreman I had before retiring.
A great guy and he will be missed..
Sincerely,
