Not sure what to say?

Will always miss you. You were a good friend and colleague

I was truly saddened to be informed of Dave's death.
As a teaching colleague and later as Assistant Principal(1983-88), I came to appreciate and value his working and out of the classroom, always focused on what was best for students. To countless classes, he served with talent as a class advisor and in that role he was an effective reach-out of the Administration.
The number and expressions from former students is a great testimony to Dave's contributions and the positive...

There was always a buzz within the halls of LHS during the first few days of September when we got our class assignments. Kids used to brag openly about being in Mr. Slate's class because he was considered by many to be the best. It was a privilege to share his classroom. He was an authority figure who provided a fun and engaging classroom environment. He was old school yet current. Every Friday afternoon, he dismissed his class with "The Liver You Save May Be Your Own", a classic example of...

The 1961 class of Chicopee High, has lost one of its beloved members! Dear classmate, Brenda, our love and prayers to you and family. (We're so proud of those 47 years of marriage.)

Mr. Slate was one of the most kind, caring men I ever met. He was my homeroom and biology teacher 1998-2002 at LHS, and was like a mentor to me. I was out sick for several weeks and he kept in regular contact with my family and me, and was very watchful over me when I returned. Not many people remember high school teachers, but my friends and I have many fond memories of him. I can't express my sympathy enough, but I hope these words bring you solace knowing he touched so many lives.

Dear Brenda
Mom just let me know about David's passing - I am so sorry. Needless to say, I was shocked and deeply saddened. Words cannot adequately express my sympathy. I will always remember David as my favorite cousin. When I lived in Mass. as a boy, he was like a big brother to me. Again, my condolences.

Dear Brenda, I am so sorry for your loss and grief. I am thinking of you and hope that you are feeling the love and support of your family and friends.

Our deepest condolences to Davis's family for the loss of a wonderful devoted son and father. We saw how wonderful he was to Julie at Germane's burial last June, and see all the great work he has done. May Brenda and his children take comfort in the fact that he availed himself to touch so many hearts and will always be respected for this legacy.

Mr. Slate was an exceptional teacher and mentor. Anyone fortunate enough to take his freshman bio class, came away with a wealth of knowledge and the confidence to pursue our dreams.

His postive influence on generations of LHS students is an enduring legacy.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you all,

The DiPippo Family
