Not sure what to say?

Dear Irene, I was going through old files and found a letter from 2012 about your family trip to Italy. It bough back fond memories of a kind man and his gracious family. I wish you and your family the best.
Sincerely, Linda Marshall ****I never saw a picture of him until today-what a great smile ! Linda Marshall

Dear Renie; So sorry to hear of Dave's passing. I had the good fortune of being able to count both of you as friends while I attended Shaker High. Although our paths have not crossed since then I have always remembered Dave's kindness and friendship to a newcomer to Shaker. I regret that I wasn't able to continue that relationship over the past years but I see that Dave was able to enrich many more lives than mine. Dave's only fault was that he had captured the heart of the prettiest girl...

My deepest condolences go out to your family.

David was a part of our life since our first times in cleveland- 1967.. We were next door neighbors -and friends. When they moved to Portland, we visited them there-- and when they returned to Cleveland Heights, we were delighted and amazed.

Suzy and I worked on his election for CL hts council- great fun.
I loved his company- we shared books and ideas. We laughed together. Our children loved him, I love him.
He will be forever alive in our hearts.

There was a certain radiance about Dave, a sure sense of life's good purpose. I feel fortunate to have known him. Art Brooks

Dear Renie:

Please know that we are missing not only David, but also you, Greg, Ellie and Claire, and that we are sorry Portland is so far from all of you.

I shall always think of David as a true friend as well as a natural comedian. He will be missed by...

Dear Renie,

Smitty's face and presence at Amherst always inspired engagement-usually a passing joke or wisecrack, but always with a smile on his face and a willingness to engage. He was never sarcastic or mean-spirited, a mark of some separation from most of us undergrads, wanting to score verbal points and not minding if it was at someone else's expense.

He was so proud of you and the Heights Club. I was glad we had some occasion to talk about that work.
