Not sure what to say?

I first met Wayne at North Avenue Presbyterian Church in 1974 when preparing to participate in the exchange to Pernanbuco, Brazil, the second exchange he organized. After the forming of the Friendship Force I sat next to him and Carolyn on the flight to Berlin in 1980. Over the years as I went on 10 more exhcanges I was able to interact with Wayne and Carolyn periodically as well as with Susan and Andy.

It has been a joy and privilege to know even a little someone with such...

I wish to express my condolences to Andy, my old friend from Peachtree Presbyterian. My prayers have been with you and your family.

The Friendship Force of Lancaster PA extends our member's deepest sympathy to the family. Several of our club members traveled to Jordan with Wayne in December. And several of our club members are charter members who helped get the organization going. We are priviledged to have these memories of Wayne.

This news comes as a shock to me as well as to all those in the world of Friendship Force International. Our hearts are filled with sadness.
Please take care of yourselves and each other. Special love and good thoughts to you, Susie. You are missed at FFI.
Yours in friendship and caring,
Dr. Rita Kirk Powell

I joined Wayne on his trip to Jordan in December. I was glad to have been part of his last trip. My husband and I were hosts for the Mexicans on the first exchange of the Greater Harrisburg Friendship Force. Friendship Force has been a positive force in my life thanks to Wayne.

We are saddened and shocked to hear the recent tragic news of Wayne’s death. We wish to express our sincere condolences and deepest sympathy to you Carolyn, your daughter Susie, who presided and stabilised Friendship Force during uncertain times, to your sons David, Stephen and Andrew and all the members of his family.

Those of us that were honoured to have met Wayne personally were soon to realise the profoundness of his simple but effective feelings towards friendship and...

I send my sympathy to family of Rev. David Wayne Smith. I want to thank you for Friendship Force. I'm a widow and it meant alot to me to join a club where I could travel in safety, meet new friends here and overseas. Thank you for your vision. Linda Cox

Although I never met Rev. Smith personally he changed my life through the creation of The Friendship Force. The friends I have made in our local club and around the world would not have been possible without him. He will be missed.

We were sorrowful for your loss. You all were very instrumental in our healing process last year when we lost our loved one(Vickie Sterling). We will pray for you all. The angels have received this honorable man.
