Angelus Funeral Home - San Antonio Obituary

David Solis passed peacefully in his sleep on May 21, 2017 at the age of 55.   David is survived by his parents; Gloria and Raul Solis; his siblings; Raul Solis wife Gerri, Rachel San Martin husband Dr. Roberto San Martin, Diana Rivas husband Ernest Rivas, and Javier Solis wife Veronica; Girlfriend; Dorothy Woodard; as well as his many nieces and nephews.

David graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in 1981. He would then go on to work for H-E-B for over 20 years where he brought many smiles to those that he worked with. After H-E-B, he would go on to be a custodian for the Northside Independent School District before devoting his time fully to taking care of his parents at home.

David was known for not only having a big and loving smile, but also having a warm and caring heart. You can ask anyone about David and will hear nothing but positive responses about the person he was. David was friends with everyone, making a lasting impression on each and every person that he met throughout his life.  He was well known by his nickname, “Spanky”, and was always willing to share a laugh or a beer with family and friends. He was never shy to give a helping hand when it came to fundraisers or benefits involving his friends in need. Whether it was contributing his famous rice or taking command of the BBQ pit, David was always involved.

Family meant the most to David, especially his nieces and nephews which he cared for as his own.  He will be missed in all of our hearts dearly and will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace and continue to watch over us in our daily lives.

Not sure what to say?

Tia and Tio, primo's, prima's: Spank was a genuine American - a true one of a kind. He was molded through the love of your entire family. Where others would have struggled, Spanky thrived. Thank you for being such a wonderful family unit, and you have my sincerest condolences.

I was fortunate to meet David at Kennedy, during a time when most of us were trying to figure life out Spanky was genuine, honest and funny. He never strayed from these qualities! Rest in peace David!

We extend our sincerest condolences to the entire Solis family on the passing of David. May God's sustaining love fill your hearts at this time. To Raul and Gerri, we were so sad to hear of your brother's/brother-in-law's death...our prayers are with you, also, to find comfort in the Lord at this time. To read about David from others he will surely be missed and forever loved by all that knew him.

We extend our deepest sympathy and thoughts to the Solis family for David's loss. With my conversations with Javi, and the few times David and I had talked,I knew he was a good man who loved and was loved by all. I hope his love of family and generosity, lives on through all as a message of his goodwill, influence, and love, continue to ones he left behind. As a tribute honoring him, keep his memory of goodness with you as a beacon

Spanky, you will be greatly missed by the Hatton families that grew up with you and tons of friends you touched. You will not be forgotten as your smile is etched in our minds and your kindness & love will live in our hearts forever. Rest in peace my friend till we meet again! Love you!

We all have lost a great friend, you were such a big part of our "family", we are all there for each other when there was a need. But what I will Miss the most is your huge smile, your laughter, the great conversations we had & of course our love for a cold beer, until we meet again, I am happy to call you my friend...
