DAVID WOODROW SOLLEVELD
March 15, 1961 – March 22, 2017
We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden and tragic passing of David Woodrow Solleveld, on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend.
Dave is survived by his ‘precious’ wife, Kimmy, and ‘darling daughters’, Shannon and Danielle, and also by his dad, Arnold Solleveld, brother Glenn (Benita), sister Diana Dupras (Don), sister Kimberley Overly (Paul), loving ‘outlaws’ Tom Schioler (Margaret), Dave Schioler (Sharon), Kai Schioler (Ursula), Linda Kennedy (Robert), and many loving nieces, nephews and great-nephews, all of whom Dave cherished so profoundly. Dave was predeceased by his mom Adeline Solleveld in September of 2000.
Born in Winnipeg on March 15, 1961, Dave grew up in North Kildonan and graduated from Kildonan East high school.
Dave was an ambitious and hard-working man who would do anything for his family. He was charismatic, and had a clever and sarcastic sense of humour that made everybody in his company laugh and gravitate towards him. He was a true and loyal friend, a confidant to many for over 40 years. He was a generous and fun-loving guy who enjoyed the company of family and friends at Bombers and Jets games, concerts, ‘the Heights’ and more.
David’s legacy lives on through the strength and fabric of his work as a contractor. He loved his Victoria Beach cottage and everything that it encompassed, whether reading his books on war and history, playing his guitar or enjoying his long walks with Kimmy. Dave loved photography and brunches. Dave loved people – Dave loved life.
Dave was the love of Kim’s life. He was the most amazing Dad, husband, role model and friend, and his precious three girls meant the world to him. He was so loved by all. No words can express how much we are going to miss our gentle giant. You were taken too soon, and the thought that we will never see your big smile again is too hard to bear. We will be thinking of you every single day.
A celebration of Solly’s life will take place 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at ‘The Gates on Roblin’, 6945 Roblin Blvd.
