Read MoreWhen I learned of Davids illness,I wrote an email to him in May of 2012. I promised that my wife and I would keep him in our prayers. My wife has been battling cancer for 12 months. That is the reason I retired from ITW this past year. David answered the email with best wishes for my wife's recovery.
He will be missed.

It was with much sadness that I read of David's death. I knew David professionally and can say without equivocation that he was one of the kindest, sincere, and caring individuals I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I am sure his legacy will continue and I personally am the better person for having met him.

Dear Speer Family,
