This past year I found out that my Drill Sgt went to OCS, served total of 3 tours in Vietnam, joined at age 16, retired as a Major and then made a significant contribution as a civilian to troop protection. A true patriot.

My drill sgt in basic at Fort Eustis was David Paul Spencer. He had mentioned that he was applying for a commission in 1967. I am wondering if this is the same person. He was a doing his best to train soldiers to do their best.

You efforts on behalf of Soldiers were well known and appreciated. Rest in peace.

I worked with Dave as member of Dragon, Tow, Javelin project offices here at Redstone. He was a sweet man who I set great store by for his candor and knowledge. A great soldier and soldiers friend

Please accept my deepest condolences. We have lost a great American. Dave was always looking out for the individual soldier and Infantryman. He had a knack for bringing senior Army leadership and contractors together to unite to serve the soldier. I was the project manager for the Javelin Missile System through the end of development and first fielding.
