David L. Sponseller
Age 63, of Louisville, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011 in Mercy Medical Center. He was born April 26, 1948 in Alliance to Nellie (Thompson) Sponseller of Louisville and the late Lloyd Sponseller. He is a self-employed farmer. He graduated from Minerva High School in 1966 and received an Associate degree in Engineering from the DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago. He is a member of the Israel Lutheran Church in Paris where he serves on the congregational council. He is a board member of the Paris and Washington Insurance Company, was a Stark County Foster parent for over 20 years and has served on numerous farming and agricultural boards over the years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Ruth E. (Bagshaw) Sponseller whom he married Sept. 28, 1968; three daughters, Shari (John) McKarns of Kensington, Cindy Sponseller of the home and Aimee (Jeremy) Marsh of Minerva; four sons, Scott (Julie) Sponseller of Paris, James Sponseller of Paris, Nicholas (Nichole) Sponseller of Massillon, Joseph Sponseller of the home; two sisters, Frances (John) Rees of Louisville and Linda (Luther) Lautenschlager of N. Canton; two brothers, Gary (Bea) Sponseller of Louisville and Warren (Sue) Sponseller of Louisville; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Paris Israel Lutheran Church with Pastor Sue Rogers officiating. Burial will be in the Paris Community Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Gotschall- Hutchison Funeral Home in Minerva and one hour prior to services at the church. Those unable to attend may sign the register at www.gotschallfuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
