Not sure what to say?

David, I will never forget your kindness during my time working for you at MEC. Everything everybody says about you is genuinely true, your door was always open, you were always keen to teach & listen, your weekly tradition of Tuesday Coffee´s never went unappreciated and I will always be grateful for such a wonderful boss. Not only were you a fabulous boss but you also looked after my mum so fabulously just like you did with all of your other patients. Rest in love David.

from our family who were at Kingsway school with your children , we send our deepest condolences. In our thoughts and prayers love from the Duncan family Stanmore Bay

Very sad news. I first met David as a Trainee in South Yorkshire when in Doncaster. He was an amazing clinician and a very helpful and wise colleague. Sincere condolences to his family.

A good friend, a great researcher, a generous teacher and an outstanding clinician, just a few qualities of an amazing individual. Our paths first crossed when David was a junior doctor in Sheffield and I was truly fortunate to be able to collaborate with him on numerous projects. My thoughts and prayers go out to Judith and children at this time

I am so sorry to hear of David's passing. He was a wonderful Ophthamologist who, on each of my visits over the years, had the time to talk of things and people we had in common as well as ensuring my eye condition was assessed and managed regularly. A true gentle man, whom I considered a friend as well as my specialist. He is missed.

A wonderfully kind and highly skilled man.. As one of his patients I had the greatest respect for him. My warmest sympathy and love to his family.

I was a secretary in Ophthalmology in Sheffield from 1992 when both David and his wife worked at the beginning of their Ophthalmology careers. I was greatly saddened to read about David's passing. My thoughts go out to Judy and his children.

I am so shocked to hear this, and so sorry Judy and family. David was an absolute pleasure to work with at Greenlane Hospital. He taught me how to laser and was the best teacher ever, so encouraging and helpful. Honestly one of the best doctors I have ever worked with. Such a loss, my heart is so heavy.

I was very sad to hear of Dr Sqirrell's passing. He made the biggest difference to my eyesight and I have been so grateful ever since. Margeret Smeets
