Owens and Brumley Funeral Home - Wichita Falls Obituary

David Loy Stepp, 78, of Wichita Falls passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024.

The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2024 at the home.  Arrangements are under the direction of Owens and Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

David was born on December 17, 1945 in Wichita Falls to the late Lee Roy and Stella (Ewing) Stepp.  He was a 1964 graduate of Wichita Falls High School, and attended Midwestern University.  David was retired from M&M Manufacturing.  He loved old cars and memorabilia.  His greatest memory as a child was playing for the Little Eagles baseball team.  He grew up in a neighborhood with family and friends who stayed close all of his life.  David had a fantastic memory, and loved music, so much so that he could tell you what month and year a song was released.

He was meticulous in everything he did, and some called him a perfectionist.  Known as “Stepper” by the neighborhood kids, he made a mean hamburger, called the “Stepp-burger”.  David also loved his animals.  His greatest passion in life however, was his family.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Shelby, and Steve; and his great-grandson, Javi Doblado.

He is survived by his wife Virginia; son, John Stepp and wife Deepa; daughters, Carol Coffin and husband Jared, and Jeni Green and fiancé Brad Hale; nine grandchildren; his brother, Ronnie Stepp and wife Jeane; six great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made in David’s name to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310, or the charity of your choice.

Condolences may be sent to the family at www.owensandbrumley.com

Not sure what to say?

David took guitar lessons from me a few years back, His knowledge of songs is incredible to say the least. I really enjoyed the lessons with David, most of all, I enjoyed our love of 50s and 60s rock and roll.Especially, Elvis and Buddy Holly. I remember going to David's house and seeing the cars and the latest record he got from somewhere. I have deep regret not reaching out over the last few years. God speed to the family and we lost a good one.

I wish I could have spent more time with David over the years but we stayed in touch and had some good conversations over the years. My first real connection with David was when I was going to the Navy in early 1963 and David bought my beloved 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air. We often talked about the good times each of us had with the 55. I could always count on David to answer questions and help me out when I had a car question, He was truly unique in his knowledge of classic cars. We would...
