David M. Stollings, 86, of Perryton, Texas, died Friday, January 18, 2013.
Services will be held Monday, January 21, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at Community Worship Center in Perryton, Texas, with Reverends Harrol Waterbury (retired), Terry Danley, Ed Modrick and Pastor Mike Waterbury officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery, and arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton.
Mr. Stollings was born September 24, 1926 in Ochiltree County, Texas, to Walter and Rhodie Stollings. He married Edna Tickle on February 24, 1954 in Clovis, New Mexico.
Mr. Stollings was a farmer and rancher, starting to raise cattle at a young age through 4-H. He attended grade schools at Twichell, Huntoon and Perryton, graduating from Booker High School, and he attended Texas Tech University. He served in the U.S. Army in Europe for 2 years, and he worked for 6 years for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, measuring land in the 1970's. He was a member of the Community Worship Center of Perryton and spent all his life within a two mile radiusof where he was born.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, Roy, Frank and William Stollings, and one sister, Nellie Collins.
He is survived by his wife, Edna, of Perryton; one son, David and wife Dale of Perryton; and two daughters, Debbie Stollings, and Cindy and husband Tim Van Valkenburg, all of Amarillo, Texas. He has 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
