Not sure what to say?

David will always be remembered. We loved his kindness and sense of humor. His wife and children have a sweetness about them that comes from David and his good character shows up in their lives. We still miss him and when we hear a waltz, it reminds us of David and we danced his favorite, “A Touch of Your Hand” last week. The Lord loves his children. Rejoice for a life well lived! Love, Anne and Mike Mahowald

So sorry for your loss. I served with David on the FS Key. He was a terrific Officer and great Shipmate. We stood many watches together and I always enjoyed it when he had the Deck. I remember he introduced me to the candy squirrel nut zippers which despite the name was really good. He never forgot what it was like to be an enlisted man and later when I got Commissioned he was one of my role models. Again, my condolences and prayers for him and his family. Herb Kennedy, LCDR, USN, Ret.

Sandy, Our condolences on David's passing. Know that he is no longer struggling. I'll miss our silly admiration of the ring that we used to do & think of him when I wear it. Also know that your pain will lessen, perhaps very slowly at first, as the days go by, but it will get easier. If you need to talk, just call me, I've been down this road. Love & many Yellow Rocks!!

On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans (USSVI), I offer our sincere condolences on David's passing. You and your loved ones are in our thoughts and prayers. We are forever grateful for David's service to our country in the U.S. Submarine Service. To our Brother of the Phin we say, Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. May you rest in peace and may God bless your loved ones who remain. Thank you for your service to our country.

"Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you...

I will always cherish the memories I have of growing up with you as my big brother. Love you always.

I am blessed that I got to know David and enjoy his friendship even though it was for just a short time. When others were around him, it became quite evident that he was a kind and caring person. Square dancing and round dancing were fun because he helped beginners like us enjoy learning and his smile was encouraging. He was so active and what an example he set for those around him. I still wish I could have been a fly on the wall to see him trying to take his bike up the esculator in...

David, you were a friend, a mentor, a father figure, and a brother in arms. My world was better for having you in it. Fair winds and following seas to you, I miss you my friend.

Thank you for so many wonderful memories David. I'll miss seeing you everywhere. Thank you for always dancing with me when Ed was deployed. I'll miss our Tuesday evening talks and seeing you laugh or scoff at something. You made my world a better place by being in it and I'm honored that you were my friend. Much love David.

My condolences to the Sturgis family in this time of loss. May you find comfort in your family and your memories of yourloved one.
