To the Sugarbaker family; It is August, 2025...14 yrs after David performed his life-saving surgery on Gary. With each passing day we remain forever grateful and blessed for his talent and knowledge. May your family be comforted some by knowing there are numerous families thinking of you and your beloved David, husband & father, with love and prayers every year. Bless you all. Eternally grateful, Deb & Gary M.

Receiving an email reminder that the 3rd anniversary of your husband's passing is approaching. Thinking of you & your family & the loss you continue to bear, also including the loss of your son a short time after. Your husband, my late husband's surgeon at B & W in 2011 took away so many of my & my husband's fears with his caring bedside manner. Wishing you strength to go forward each day carrying your husband's shining light within you.

Receiving an email reminder that it's the 2 year anniversary of Dr. Sugarbaker's passing, I am brought back to B & W & his valiant attempt to extend my late husband's life in late 2010, albeit it was not meant to be. What he was able to give us each day was hope to hang onto, & not only by his surgical skills but by his exceptional bedside manner that uplifted us at a time we needed it most. He was the light in the dark for us & is what gave my husband & I the ability to cope with the...

My husband and I think of Dr Sugarbaker often throughout the year with great appreciation and gratitude. There are no words that could possibly express what we feel so deep in our hearts. David came to our rescue when our darkest cloud covered our family and friends. Bless David and his family for all they do to help their fellow beings. Truly special angels among us. Thank you!

We just learned of the passing of Dr. Sugarbaker and are indeed heart broken. He saved my husband's life in 2011 and it's because of this incredibly talented and compassionate surgeon that he is still sharing his precious life with me, his family and many friends. We owe so much to his expertise and dedication to thoracic surgery. We will never forget him and will be eternally grateful for his gift to us. Our deepest sympathy to his wife and family. May...

Paz a sus restos! Gracias por escribir un libro de cirugía torácica!

Dr. Sugarbaker's passion for patient care was infectious to everyone around him. It was evident everyday that I worked with him. He provided "hope" for many who had no hope when they arrived in the office. He may be gone, but his Legacy lives on in the tens of thousands of lives he touched, from patients, families, physicians, nurses, anyone who crossed his path. Thank you Dr. Sugarbaker.

Dave was one of my closest friends at Wheaton College. I will always remember him for his passionate Christian faith and unflagging spirit. His friendship is one of the most highly valued experiences of my life.Tom Dahlberg
