David J. Swanger

David J. Swanger, age 54, resident of rural Shelby died unexpectedly Saturday June 11, 2011 in MedCentral Shelby Hospital.

Born June 3, 1957 in Shelby he had been a Shelby resident all of his life. David was a 1975 graduate of Shelby High School and had received his HVAC certification from Terra Technical College. He was a former employee of Browns Electric, Quality Plumbing and Heating and Hartings Construction. He had also taught classes at the Trane Instruction Facility in Cleveland. David was very knowledgeable and skilled in many areas of expertise and was happiest when he was busy.

Survivors include two sons, Adam M. Swanger, of Columbus and Bruce W. (Megan) Swanger and their son, Mason Swanger, all of Shreveport, La; one daughter Carolyn D. Swanger of Marion, OH; his father Donald E. Swanger of Shelby; one brother Scott J. (Stephanie) Swanger, Shelby; one sister Cindy K. (Francis) Scruci of Wellington, OH; four nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother Marguerite Jane Swanger.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday June 15, 2011 at the Barkdull Funeral Home in Shelby with family friend, Steve Haverfield, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Burial will be held in Most Pure Heart of Mary Cemetery at a later date.
