David was a dear and loyal friend. We did a road-trip to Mexico when we were 15, with our Spanish teacher, Ronald Mantzke, and a classmate, John Murray. Mr. Mantzke was and an evangelical Christian, but we were 2 Jews and a Catholic. He made us go to church with him, occasionally, and nudged us once or twice following the "alter call" to accept Jesus as our personal Savior. None of us succumbed to the call. I remember David well as we were schoolmates as well as neighbors in the South Mountain school area. How often we used to compete who could do more push-ups,he always did more. My deepest condolences to the family. We have lost another great one.

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of David. In October 19 87 I was hired as a commercial account manager at Szerlip & Co. We worked hard and laughed all the time. It was the best job I ever had. I have so many wonderful memories of David and the Szerlip family in that happy time in my life. I hope your memories will be a source of comfort as they are for me.

To my boss of almost 30 years, there are no words to describe my sorrow. David was a simple, quite man whose knowledge of Insurance was immeasurable. My phrase for David was that he is a walking encyclopedia of insurance. That is how much he knew about insurance. He helped write insurance policies for Substance Abuse and Mental Health facilities, most of whom were nonprofits.
