David L. Talkington David Lee Talkington, 70, of Fairmont passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011 as a result of a vehicle accident in Lewis County. He was born in Wetzel County on November 23, 1941, a son of the late Clement David and Dessie Violet (Kocher) Talkington. Dave proudly served his country with the United States Army for four years. He was retired from Monongahela Power Company, where he worked as an Industrial and Commercial Representative for over 30 years. He was a graduate of Fairmont State University. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Green Hills Country Club, the Mon Power Pioneer's Club and a member of the NRA. He volunteered as a coach for little league baseball and youth basketball in Marion County. Dave was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and playing golf with family and friends. He also enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife Ellen and his many friends. David was a loving husband, father, grandfather, family member and friend and will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Vilery Ellen (Heldreth) Talkington of Fairmont, two sons, Douglas L. Talkington and his wife Staci of Gransevoort, New York and Mark E. Talkington and his wife Jennifer of Ridgeley, and seven grandchildren, Colton, Grayson, and Ellora Talkington, all of New York and Cameron, Isaac, Xavier and Naomi, all of West Virginia. Also surviving is his brother, Edward Talkington and his wife Sharon of Barboursville, one sister, Evelyn Beckwith and her husband William of Ellicott City, MD, as well as several loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Herbert Talkington and four sisters, Virginia Smith, Vivian Tracewell, Helen Ensminger, and Phyllis McCoy. Family and friends may call at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant St., Fairmont on Sunday from 2-8 pm and on Monday from 10-11 am. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, November 28, 2011 at 11 am with Pastor Gene Burnside officiating. Interment will follow at WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
