Not sure what to say?

As I was sitting in Palmer Church last Sunday and hearing about Fr. David Tarbet's death, I reflected on the impact he has had on that place. It was because of him that acceptance of the "new" prayer book in 1979 was so easy. He sponsored many discussions of the why's and how's of the process of writing a new prayer book. He also was so instrumental in forming of the 9:00 Eucharist and helping us find a way to allow families to worship together. As a Sunday School teacher, I remember...

Father David was an awesome priest and really showed God's love to others. He baptized my newborn son spur-of-the- moment on New Year's Day at Palmer when I was getting over viral pneumonia, and my son's two-year-old sister was recuperating from a high fever and influenza as well. He also visited a dear friend of our family from the ballet community who was suddenly hospitalized for emergency surgery.Rest in peace, Father David, we will always remember you fondly and with love.

Father David was my first spiritual director, and he encouraged me to come to General Theological Seminary, where I am now studying to become a priest.
I will cherish the memories of our lunches together, talking about ministry, and his love for the church. He was so tenderhearted toward me and my partner Eric. I will miss him dearly.

Father David had a rare combination of humility, wit and loving kindness that made him so beloved. He was one of the world's sweetest people and will be so terribly missed.

Father Tarbet gave an extremely inspiring sermon upon the occasion of my installation as a Verger at Emmanuel in 2003. I many times refer to his words to this day. God bless you David as you rest in the eternal light.

Uncle David's smile was a cotton-stringed hammock and his laughter an antidepressant refill. We loved you so much, David.

3/7/10-Father David Tarbet was such a kind man with an impish sense of humor. He was a faithful shepherd of his flock. He will really be missed. Rest in peace. Majel Cooper

I moved from Houston over 10 years ago, but shall always remember David's good counsel, dry wit and knowing smile when I was a member of Palmer Church and activie in the local chapter of Integrity. R.I.P. David

I am so saddened to hear of David's passing. He brought joy, laughter, and wit to our lives. My life is the better for having had his in mine. Peace, David.
