Not sure what to say?

I met Dave back in 79 he worked part time at my fathers Marina on
Pretty Lake ave.
Great Policeman always enjoyed talking and learning from him.
God Bless the Thacker family.

One of the best officers I ever worked with may Dave rest in peace.

While I did not know Mr. Thacker, his name stood out in the newspaper obituaries because I have Thacker ancestry. Upon reading the obit, it touched my heart because my husband was in the Marines and served in Vietnam, later dying from sarcoma caused by Agent Orange exposure at the same age as Mr. Thacker was when he passed. I just wanted to express my condolences and thank him for his service to our country and for his community service working for the Norfolk Police. Semper fi.

Thoughts and prayers are with all the family during this time. Bobby grew up and went to school with David, I got to know him after high school while he worked at Bogue's Service Center when I worked next door at the dental office. Many years have passed but we will always remember him. He fought a good fight and will be greatly missed,

Love and prayers to all of the family during this difficult time. Please accept our deepest sympathy. May the Lord grant you peace and comfort, now and in the days to come. Much love, The Olhas

Dave was one of the first police officers I got to know well when I joined the City in 1990 and when we subsequently started the PACE initiative. He was so often my "go-to" person when I needed information or guidance - under that gruff exterior was a kind-hearted, caring, and totally decent man. The world has lost a true treasure.

My condolences to the family.
