ATTLEBORO - David Leo Thibault, 52, of Attleboro died unexpectedly Tuesday, Oct 26, 2010 in Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He was a lifelong resident of the Plainville, North Attleboro and Attleboro area.
Dave was a Sprinkler Fitter and Inspector for many years with Fire Guard Systems, Inc. of Johnston RI and later with Simplex Grinnell of Riverside, RI. He also worked part-time landscaping around the area. In his earlier years he managed a furniture and appliance store in North Attleboro, tended bar at Astro East and Joe's 320, and opened his own restaurant, Jillian's, in Plainville. His later years produced his proudest work achievement as a Merchant Marine Cook aboard the USNS Lt John P. Bobo and the USNS 1st Lt Jack P. Lummus where he sailed the Mediterranean and Indian Ocean on prepositioning ships that strategically placed U.S. combat equipment around the globe for rapid delivery to the various theaters of operation in the Global War on Terror.
He loved spending time with his family at everyday gatherings, holiday gatherings, summer cookouts and the traditional Thibault Clam Boil. He found great pleasure coaching little league baseball and fishing with his young sons and was an avid gardener and softball and pool player. Additionally he was very musical and loved to sing and play harmonica at family gatherings and at many clubs around the area in his earlier days. He even played harmonica on more than one occasion with members of the former J. Geils and James Montgomery bands.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Leo Thibault in 1995 and is survived by his truly devoted mother and step-father, Lorraine and Raymond LaRocca of Plainville. He was the loving Father of David Ryan Thibault and his wife Alysia of Key West, FL; Gregory Thibault of Pawtucket, RI and Gary Thibault of Alexandria Bay, NY. Additionally, he is survived by his caring brothers and their families, Gary and Donna Thibault of Natick, MA and their children Danielle and Jeff; Michael and Patty Thibault of Plainville, MA and their children Nicole, Amanda and Jillian and their grandson, Jayden Thibault. He is also survived by his loving Godfather and Uncle, Albert Renaud of La Mesa, CA and by the newest member of the Thibault family, his grandson Leo Haraldsen Thibault of Key West, FL as well as many other extended family members.
Visiting hours will be in the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove Street, North Attleboro on Tuesday, November 2 from 5-8 p.m. A funeral will be held from the funeral home on Wednesday, November 3 at 8 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Martha's Church, 227 South Street, Plainville at 9 a.m. Burial to follow in Plainville Cemetery.

Although I have not seen David in over 35 years we were childhood friends and this, as is the death of any classmate/friend is particularly disturbing. I wish we'd kept in contact.

Our deepest sympathies and condolences go out to the Thbault family. I always enjoyed your company, whether it was on the pool table or on the bowling machine, or ping pong table. We were always both competitive and enjoyed the company. Being a softball teammate helped I think. Good memories always. In our prayers and thoughts, Tim&Pat Quigley. Englewood, Florida
