Not sure what to say?

Oh, I am so bummed! I was his gardener for several years before he had the gardens relandscaped and, unfortunately, they needed more time than I could offer (the landscaping company was able to help). He always had lemonade to offer and sometimes we would have lunch together during the winter months and he would tell me of all his latest travels and I would tell him mine, sometimes comparing notes on places we both had gone. He was always willing to share his traveling insites or recommend...

Mark, Chris, Katie, Martha and Nora,

I had the pleasure of knowing your Dad as a father and through the Medical School. He was warm, kind and encouraging, if not a little intimidating, in both roles. He will be missed. A remarkable man. I did not realized just how remarkable until I read his obituary. Humble too. Wishing you good memories and comfort.

Dear Katie, Martha, Nora, Mark and Chris,
This beautiful obituary brought back so many vivid memories of happy times at the Tormey house. Your wonderful parents are forever in the fabric of my life. I could hear your father's delighted laugh, reading about his garden gnomes. My thoughts are very much with you during this sad time.
Love,
Mary Rothwell Davis

Like so many my first contact with the medical school was Dr. Tormey. He was, pure and simple a rock for all of us. Many a problem laid in his lap, and all of them from the trivial to the profound received thoughtful and respectful consideration and what came back was sound advice, encouragement and, when needed, "come on, you can figure this out."
Condolences to his family and thanks for sharing him.

A true gentleman and mentor, he will be missed; but a full and wonderful life worth celebrating! . On a personal note, he helped guide me through a few rough patches during Medical school. I will always be grateful to him.. Rest well David, Francis Nolan, MD, Brisbane Australia/ Cooperstown, NY. UVM COM 1990.

Sorry to hear about your Dad Martha....Tim, Suz and William Harvey

Dr. Tormey was a kind, funny, positive, and very helpful counselor throughout my medical school years. My sympathies to all the family on the loss of this dear man.

We honor the memory of a man who loved his family so much. Best wishes and love to Martha from Amy, John, Catie and Sam

I am very sorry to hear of Dr. Tormeys passing. Having started work at COM in 1971 I had the pleasure of working close with him and the medical students. What a wonderful, delightful man. My heart and prayers go out to his family.
