EAST PALESTINE — David “Dub” Torrence, 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Aug. 24, 2025, at Continuing Healthcare at the Ridge, with his family by his side.
David was born Dec. 24, 1938, in East Palestine, the son of David Torrence and Rosina Olivetti Torrence, who were both immigrants from Italy. They moved to East Palestine, where David went to East Palestine schools and attended Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
David was employed at the Torrence Coal Company in East Palestine and worked at the Columbiana Foundry in Columbiana, from where he eventually retired as a foreman.
David loved sports, enjoyed fishing and had a talent for carpentry. He enjoyed playing pool and took part in tournaments in Las Vegas.
David is survived by his loving wife, Pearl Crawford Torrence, with whom he celebrated 65 years of marriage on June 11; daughter, Leisa (Daryl) Kirtley; son, Dan (Gayle) Torrence; grandchildren, DJ (Tracy) Kirtley, Jenna (Michael) Wickenhauser, Elizabeth (Beau) McNamee, Renee (Dan) McRoberts and David (Brooke) Torrence; and great-grandchildren, Kayla, Danielle, DJ, Scarlette, Cooper and Kestella. He also shared a close relationship with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his brothers, Albert, Alfred, August, Henry, Jim, Edward, Dennis, Emory and Richard Torrence; and sisters, Edith Bartholow, Betty Hull and Rosie Coreno.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Canfield. Calling hours will begin at 10 a.m. at the church. There will be a luncheon at the church immediately following services.
