It is with deep sorrow that we announce to passing of our beloved son, brother, nephew and uncle, DAVID E. VALLES, on July 5, 2017 in El Paso, Texas. David was born in Canutillo, Texas on July 21, 1966 to Mary Lou and Zac Valles. He was raised in Las Cruces and graduated from Mayfield High School in 1984. David attended New Mexico State University receiving his Bachelor’s degree in finance and his Master’s degree in business. An active member of Tau Kappa Epsilon. David developed a strong character and the skills of leadership and teamwork that he used throughout his life.
David’s work was very important to him. In 1999, he began working for Flowers Baking Company of San Antonio, Texas. In 2001, he was transferred to El Paso, Texas and became the controller of Flowers Baking Company of El Paso, managing the finances of the company. Respected by his supervisors and co-workers, David was a faithful and dedicated member of their team, always going the extra mile for his co-workers and company clients. His integrity and dedication to the company was an inspiration.
David had a self-sacrificing spirit, always putting others before himself. He was devoted to his family and had an extraordinary love and respect for his parents. Spending time with his younger brothers, niece and nephews was a special joy for him. In addition, he especially enjoyed football and attending the annual Bowl games. David was a big fan of Norte Dame. Those who knew him would say that he was a very kind and generous man who made the world a better place. He will be missed by all who knew him.
David is survived by his parents, Mary Lou and Zac Valles; his younger brothers, Jimmy Valles, Ronnie Valles (Tiffany); his aunts, and his niece and nephews whom he cherished, Xavier, Izabel, Zachary, Ronnie and David Valles; his godparents, Felix and Lupe Armijo. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Manuel and Ramona Rivas; his paternal grandparents, Zacarias and Reina Valles; his uncle, Manuel Rivas Jr., and his aunt, Connie Rivas.
Family and friends will gather on Friday, July 21, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the Basilica of San Albino, 2070 Calle de Santiago in Mesilla for the Prayer Vigil. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated immediately thereafter with Monsignor John E. Anderson officiating. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 5140 W. Picacho Avenue where he will be laid to rest.
Serving as casket bearers will be Martin Hernandez, Mario J. Alvarez, Ronnie Valles, Zachary Valles, Jimmy Valles, and Xavier Valles.
