Not sure what to say?

Dave made everyone a friend throughout his life, that I could tell from my first meeting! His contributions to Ohio underwater survey and its documentation (The Anthony Wayne -1850, The Sultan,1864, among others) are now a key part of this important maritime and Great Lakes story. We will miss Dave's periodic and appreciated forays to the Ohio interior here in Columbus... Dave was a great guy and contributed significantly to combustion spaceflight experiments on which I worked. Peace to all who knew him as we mourn but celebrate him and his outstanding life.

I worked with Dave at NASA on the combustion experiments for the space shuttle. We also flew on the DC-9 testing experiments prior to going on shuttle. I so enjoyed his sense of humor, hard work ethic, and how he could eat a hamburger and fries before going on the DC-9 flight's 36 parabolas without getting sick!! I have many fond memmories and will remember his bright smile.

When my uncle Lorry Wagner first introduced me to Dave as a little girl and I thought he was the kindest, funniest, and sweetest guy. There was never a dull moment when he was in the room when we either went to your place or gatherings with Lorry and Sue. Even though I have moved away I always ask Lorry how you all were doing. Toni, my deepest condolences go out to you, Stephanie and Shelby. I will miss his stories and laugh! He truly was great!

Toni, words cannot describe the sadness I feel to learn this news. Dave was such a great guy and father. He was the life of the party when we had gatherings. Good memories. My prayers go out to you and the girls. If there is anything Kathy and I can do for you, please let us know.

David was a true friend. We became buddies in 7th grade and always kept track of each other. I will truly miss my buddy and good friend. FLY HIGH DAVID!!

So very many memories from childhood into adulthood. Having such a family has been one of my greatest joys; having you in it has been inspiring! Words can never express the feelings, gratitude and love. You were like your brother, and my brother ~ a brother to me. And it goes without saying, I will miss you!

Thank you for your very brave service to our country ! God bless you
