Not sure what to say?

I remember fondly my grade school through high school classmate, Dave. My memories of him are as expressed by many here, memories of joy and Dave making people smile. My prayers are with his friends and family whose sorrow is undoubtably great.

I cannot put into words how much I am going to miss David... He was a great friend, a great husband and father. He was a great Marine. He will live in my heart forever.

From one Marine to other

To the Varley family,
I are truly sorry for your loss. Dave was a great guy and will be missed. Although I only knew Dave about a year, he had spoke on more than one occassion of Toni, David and Adam. I'll miss his wit and sense of humor. You will all remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Dave Varley was a great man and a great Marine. He will be missed by all of the Marines who knew him. His sense of humor and positive demeanor made him to be one of the finest people I have known. It was an exceptionally sad day when I discovered he had left us. But even of the deployed Marines in Iraq...he had many friends whom only spoke well of him. We wish his wife and sons the very best in these difficult times.

Dear Catherine and family,

No words can possibly express how shocked and heart broken we are at your loss. We only knew Charlie (the boy) from his escapades growing up as you and Paul so generously shared those moments with us. We finally met Charlie (the man) at Paul's funeral and knew how very proud of him you must have been. He made you feel good just being introduced to him. Though his wife and children must be unconsolable over their loss, they will always be able to take...

I am so sorry to hear about Dave. Toni you and your family will be in our prayers. I will never forget the times we had together in Okinawa going to the Monkee's concert and getting Micky Dolenz autograph and getting chased out by security for taking photographs. Going to the local sites together or just getting together and being friends. I was so happy to mentor Dave along when he first came into the CID field and always thought of your family and ours as friends forever. The world was...

Sad news indeed. Our sympathy to Dave's family. Such a fine upstanding man. Catherine if there is any thing I can do, please contact me. Bill & Marge Coogan
