Not sure what to say?

Our thoughts and prayers are with you Liliane, Mark and family and Alan and wife.. Love Norma, Darryl, Donna, Kathy Albert and Jude.

I grew up in the same community as David. He was 5 years older so I didn't know him well, but respected and admired him. We also attended the same church and I knew him in the school band as drum major and accomplished musician.
A few years ago I visited with David and Liliane at a VASA meeting. He presented the program about his book, Stockholm on the Rio Grande. I was thrilled to receive a copy of the book. I remembered some, but learned so much more about the people around me when...

Liliane, Mark & Alan & rest of Vassberg Family,
We cannot say how sorry we were (and are) to have read about David's passing. We have such fond memories of being neighbors (in Edinburg) for so many years. We looked forward to receiving your yearly Christmas letter (with family pics) after you moved to Austin. Again, we are sorry about your great loss and we send our heart-felt, deepest condolences. Our prayers & thought are with you all. May David RIP.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.

I am truly saddened by the news of David's passing and extend my deepest sympathy to Liliane and the rest of the Vassberg family. He was truly one of the shining lights among the faculty at PAU/UTPA, the living embodiment of what it means to be "a gentleman and a scholar." He will be missed.

Our deepest condolences to our colleague Lilianne and family on David's passing. He always was a friendly and kind person whether meeting you in the walkway or stopping by your office. You will be in our thoughts & prayers. Hugo Mejías & Pamela Anderson-Mejías.

I am deeply sad to know of Dr. Vassberg's passing. My condolences go to his wife and family. He was my professor when I was doing my B. A. and M. A. at UTPA, one of the best professors I have ever had. He was brilliant, kind, passionate, a great scholar, and always a gentleman. Now that I am teaching, I try to follow his footsteps, I have his image in my mind, he instilled in us such a love for history, it was a pleasure and a privilege to have been his student.
