Not sure what to say?

Mr. Vogenitz was one of my teachers in Jr. high school in Frankfurt a/M, Germany around 1960 or 1961 or thereabouts. I remember him well and found him to be quite an impressive man. Had no idea of his stature as a poet and writer.

David G Vogenitz

During my sophomore year at Santa Ana Valley High schoolI had a teacher of German ancestry for English. His name was David G Vogenitz and our class learned far more than English from him. He taught us to think, to analyze things but most of all he taught us that each of us was a person of value and that no one should ever be allowed to take that from us.

It was during one of my class periods with him that he said, as you go through life and people tell you...

We knew David in Spain in the late 1960's. Still the most fascinating man we've ever met. Miss him.

About Mr. Vogenitz, I remembered a very dynamic lecture that he gave us on how to "order expensive wine at a Fine Restaurant." Without an actual wine bottle, Mr. Vognitz pretended to pour the imaginary wine, swirl the wine in the class, and then taste it. We asked him what we should do if we didn't like the wine. He responded by saying, "just look at he waiter in disgust. The waiter will get the message!" I really don't remember many lectures from my high school days, but I remember that one!...

I, too, was in one of Mr. Vogenitz's English class. Of my years at Santa Ana Valley High School in Santa Ana, CA, he is probably the only teacher of whom I have a vivid memory. He was an inspiring teacher. Because of him and his enthusiasm in teaching us about the joys of reading, I am an avid reader.

I remember Mr. Vogenitz so very much, he was my drama teacher in high school and what an inspiration to those of us fortunate enough to be in his class that year 1960-61! Though I was too shy to be on stage, he introduced me to the 'backstage' and it changed my life. It was fun and it was to our disadvantage that he was only with us that one year.

I was fortunate to have David Vogenitz as an English teacher in high school in 1960-61 at Santa Ana Valley High School in Santa Ana, CA. I only wish I had found him sooner so I could tell him what an impact he had on me and others in our class. He was a man I would have liked to have known better as an adult. An inspired teacher.
